The Opening of our New Computer Suite

John, who is partially sighted, and Louise his support worker came to visit from Vision Skills North East. We learned lots about the various devices which help John to live independently. He has a long cane to help him to walk safely without bumping into objects. Other devices he uses include a liquid level indicator, a talking clock, talking tin lids and a talking colour detector! Louise cleverly used an iPad to show us what John’s vision is like. John explained how he learned to read Braille and he showed us a Braille copy of ‘The Gruffalo’. Miss Relf filled a jug with water whilst wearing special glasses which stopped her from seeing. She found it very tricky!
