Maths investigation morning

This week, Year 2 had a visit from the fantastic ‘History Bloke’.

We started our workshop by imagining what life was like for soldiers in the Crimean war.  He gave the children a quick introduction to the uniform of a soldier, as well as showing them how to march as an army.

We then started talking about the hospital in Scutari and Florence Nightingale walked through our door! There were some very shocked and excited faces! We asked Florence lots of questions and then she explained all of the changes she made whilst working at hospital.

She then taught us important skills; how to bandage up a patient and fold sheets.

We all had a great time when Richard and Florence came to visit us, as you can see from the photographs below!

Year 2 have started selling poppies.

We had a special visitor who taught us about the Hindu celebration of Diwali. We learnt that Diwali is the festival of light and decorated our own Diwali jars to light on the 7th of November.

Year 2 loved playing with the autumn leaves. It gave them a lot of ideas for their poetry.

We wrote Pinocchio stories and made our own little Pinocchio puppets.
